What’s your favorite game of chance?
Mine is ludo.
I am an intensely analytical player. I analyze my opponent, and then plan every move based on my analysis.
But at the end of the day, there is always a chance I may fail if the dice rolls a way I don’t want it to. And that keeps the game exciting.
But when it comes to guest blogging to build my email list, I NEVER want to be betting.
Yet surprisingly most people bet when finding guest blog opportunities.
Most people bet that guest blogging on sites with high traffic will mean lots of people joining their email list. When in reality high traffic has nothing to do with the email list growth. I explain more about why in this video here.
So what should you look at?
Audience engagement of course.
How to find the best guest blog opportunities
Use tools like NinjaOutreach to look up a blog’s audience engagement.
There are the four steps to do this. Let’s talk about each of them.
#1 Search for blogs in your niche in NinjaOutreach
For this example, we will assume the niche we are searching for is creative writing.
#2 Sort by total shares and save to list
#3 Download the list
#4 screen for blogs with highest total shares and shares per post
You would do this by:
- opening the list in Excel or your spreadsheet of choice
- removing the bottom 80% of blogs by total shares and then
- sorting by shares per post
And that is how you can stop betting and start knowing your guest blog opportunity will pay off for growing your email list!
